Vintage 2-Toned Hair Scarf Tying Video Tutorial

What do you know about tying a vintage scarf? I know it sounds easy. And it is! But here is a tutorial that combines 2 colors of scarves creating this really fun 2-toned effect.

The hair scarf is a vintage hair accessory must have. In the mid-20th century, scarves were both a fashionable accessory and an important tool. Women used them to cover their curlers, so they could make quick trips to the store while their hair set. Scarves were also very important for protecting a woman’s hair from the elements like wind and rain.

Why 2 colors together?

Scarves today can be found at your favorite local vintage or second-hand thrift shop. Online is also a great place. Here on VintageHairstyling.com, you can find the Tidy Tresses Bouffant Hair Scarf in a ton of colors with bobby pins to match.

And that is why I am doing this 2-tone vintage scarf tying tutorial here. The technique can be done lots of different ways for lots of different effects. Her I am tying it a little more turban style.

But the great thing about using 2 colors like I do here is that you can add a lot of dynamic color to really bring the attention to the scarf and the coordinating outfit you are wearing. You can mix red and white, red and black, yellow and blue, lime and pink (doesn’t that sound fun!?)… the combination possibilities are endless!
